Noelle has tolerated being fed 3 times a day and is doing very well. No vomiting/regurgitating at all, although she does burp more than the average dog. She used to almost inhale her kibble, but in the last 2 days has not been nearly as voracious an eater. She tries the piece of kibble and then spits it out. She does end up eating all or almost all of her daily allotment, but it seems that it is either too hard to crunch (has less than half her teeth left) or she doesn't want to swallow it whole. There is definitely a change, so today we are trying to eliminate one more feed/day and drop 1/4 cup of kibble and see how she does. She was eating 1 1/4 c per day and she will now get 1 cup, plus a few treats made from her hypo kibble. She seems to be at a good weight now. We are working on getting her to go outside more and use the pee pad less and she is starting to catch on. Noelle is very good at entertaining herself and just loves to play with a rubber chicken we have.
PINKY
Last evening a very stressed Bichon mill dog arrived. She has been in foster care for about 5 months and still does not like to be touched. She had soiled herself on the way here and badly needed to be cleaned up. She tolerated the hind end bath and let me hold her on the couch while she dried. I was even able to pass her off to Gerrit and she was quite good. This all ended when it came time to put her in the crate for the night. She bucked and twisted to avoid going in. I finally got her in and she settled down for the night. She was clean in the morning, had a good breakfast and when I left her in the room she came out of the crate, walked around and had a good big drink and did not flee to the crate when I came back. It will take time!
