Suzy left a week ago!

It has been a week since Suzy (now Lily) went to her furever home. She is settling well and is getting more playful, but is still wary when approached. This will come with time and she will soon forget her past and embrace life outside of a puppy mill. We are so happy for Lily to have found a great home with someone home all the time and another happy dog to play with and learn from.

Sweet Suzy!

Suzy is really settling into our home well. She wants to be with us and follows us to watch TV and waits us to pick her up and put her on the couch or bed. Suzy is now instigating play with our dog and is quite active for a short time each morning. She is now sleeping in a closed crate beside our bed and is very happy to be let out in the morning. She is quiet and clean during the night. She should be ready soon to graduate to sleeping on our bed (but we will wait to see if her new home will want this).

Suzy will be posted for adoption in a couple of days. She is ready to find herself a family who will continue leash and house training, and provide her with her Hill's d/d diet. She is doing well with pee pads in the house and will do better with outside training when she is living with a good role model companion dog in her new home.

Suzy has the wonderful personality of a bichon and is a happy, gentle girl who just wants to be loved.

Suzy is doing well!

Suzy has been with us for two weeks now and she is starting to be more comfortable in our home. She has started to take toys out of the toy basket and play with them. She can do the 3 steps from the deck and onto the couch with no problems at all. She seeks out our dog and enjoys being near her. Suzy wants to be near us, but is still reluctant to come to our out stretched hand for a treat. She is gradually feeling more secure.

Suzy had an ear infection in both ears when she arrived and is just finishing up 2 weeks of 2 antibiotics for each ear. She goes for an ear check on Tuesday to see if she will need more treatment. The ears looked very inflames and sore on arrival.

Suzy sleeps in a crate at night with access to a small area with a pee pad. She is doing well with this set up and we are hoping that she will soon be clean overnight. So far she is is just getting used to wearing a harness, but does not like any tension put on the leash yet. Susy is slowing getting used to living in a home and is ever so sweet.

Suzy arrive a few days ago.

Our new temporary family member arrive last Sunday from a puppy mill. Suzy is a 5 year old female bichon frise, who weighs about 11 lbs. She has a very long body and does need to put a bit of weight on. When her fur is fluffed up she looks the right weight, but when we bathed her today, we saw that she is fairly slim and could stand to put on a couple of lbs.

Suzy is a typical mill dog. She is very hesitant with people and doesn't yet come to an outstretched hand or take treats. This will come with time. She does seem to like being outside and looks around with curiosity. She will follow our dog around. So far she is very quiet. We haven't heard a bark yet and she spends lots of time resting on one of the dog beds.

This wee girl will come out of her shell soon, but we are letting her determine the pace for now.
