It is with a heavy heart that we pass along the news from Brooke’s adopters that she was euthanized May 16. 2017 after a struggle with congestive heart failure. Over the past couple of weeks she stopped eating, taking her medication and had increasing trouble breathing. The decision was made with their vet that it was time to let her go.
Four years ago, Brooke came to Loyal Rescue as a 7 year old puppy mill cast off. Brooke had medical issues right from the start. While in foster care Brooke was diagnosed with an enlarged heart, UTI, Cushings Disease, arthritis, dry eye, suspected allergies and needed her tail docked for medical reasons. Brooke was a favourite in her foster home where she spent almost 3 years waiting to find her forever family while slowly learning what it was to be a “normal” dog. Then the unlikely happened and great adopters fell in love with her and were willing to take on all of Brooke’s issues and provide her with everything she needed medically as well as lots of patience and unconditional love during her last 14 months.
It takes a very special family to adopt a dog knowing that she has a very uncertain future and Brooke was very lucky to have been adopted by this wonderful family.
