We picked Penny up at the vet's on Monday. She was to have had a dental and be ready to start her new life. Unfortunately the vet found that she has congestive heart failure when he was doing the pre op exam and the dental was not done. She had a chest x-ray and has been given a diuretic to take for 2-3 weeks and then goes back to be rechecked. Poor little girl. A wonderful rescue friendly groomer finished Penny's new look and took great care in getting all the mats out from between her toes and from around her eyes. She is nice and clean now, but a little cold with such a short hair do. There was nothing else that could be done to clean her up. It is sad to see such neglect, she must have been very uncomfortable for quite a while.
Penny slept a lot the first two or three days, but is slowly getting more active. We have gone for very short walks all bundled up to keep warm and she does well. She has taken over Brooke's crate in the kitchen and seems very content to be in it when she isn't walking around.
Stay tuned as we get her medical issues sorted out!
