Brooke has another New Friend- Meet Izzy

We took on a 9 month old Shih Tzu mix puppy yesterday. He arrived home with me from Peterborough after Brooke and I did an adoption event at Pet Smart. This boy's name is Izzy and as you can see he is very furry. He rode very well tethered in the back seat with Brooke who was riding in her crate. We were warned that he was a dominant dog and he soon tried to show Molly and Brooke who wanted to be boss. It was not surprising that Molly put him in his place very quickly, but it was very surprising that Brooke did too. After many times of being poked and bumped by Izzy, Brooke stood her ground and told him off. He looks about twice her size. This is a first for Brooke, who is usually a door mat.
Izzy has had lots of "accidents" so far. He was supposed to be almost house trained so I hope this stops very soon, as we don't want Brooke backsliding in this department.
Izzy is certainly friendly and playful, he empties the toy basket very methodically, bringing each toy to the other end of the room and chews on it for a couple of minutes, then selects another.. and another until the basket is empty. He plays well by himself, but would just love it if the girls would play with him. It is not for lack of trying!
We have trimmed a lot of fur from him and are working on getting the undercoat dematted... still a long way to go on this.
Things are settling down here and peace is being restored. I think Izzy will fit in fine once he learns his place in the pecking order.
