We work up this morning to freezing rain! Maddy had not had a pee accident in the house since arriving... she took one look out the door and retreated. I coxed her out under an umbrella but she just bee lined back to the door. I knew it was a lost cause and we had an accident a few minutes later inside. Maddy is so small and has almost no fur at the moment and gets cold very easily, her sweater was soaked in the few seconds she was outside. Hopefully we will get a break in the rain soon and be able to try again.
Maddy is doing very well. She is still timid, but wants to keep close to us and will come to an out stretched hand willingly. She reluctantly allows us to pick her up but is getting a bit more relaxed. Her tail goes furiously when we rub under her chin. She is now going for walks with us and does very well. We will soon start on the "sit" command... although this may be more difficult than with our other dogs as she is not very food motivated.
Maddy reminds us so much of our very first foster Wendy Lu, also a small female maltese, who we loved to bits. Maddy is a very sweet dog and is going to make someone a great little companion.
