Ethel has been the only dog here for over 2 weeks now and she is doing just fine. She seems to be calmer and has settled in to this new role very well. Ethel happily sleeps in a crate beside our bed and runs to it after the bedtime trip outside. She knows that she will get a small treat and waits patiently for it. Ethel still plays with toys on her own and will often take a bunch of them into the big dog bed and happily snooze with them around her.
She showed a bit of people possessiveness which we nipped in the bud and she seems much better now. I think that she finally realizes that there are enough pets to go around. She continues to love to receive belly rubs and ear scratches any time she can get them and loves to go out for walks, although we haven't gone on as many lately with the cold or mucky weather. We are really enjoying this little girl.
