After months of no new fosters, we finally got a new mill dog today. Chanel is a 5 year old puppy mill release from Ohio. Lucy's "run" finally got permission to transport dogs across the border under special rules while the Canada/US border is closed to all but essential travel. I hate to think about how many dogs were euthanized while the border was closed to us.
Chanel arrived this morning in good spirits and came out of her crate after about 5 minutes and has been exploring ever since. She ran in the yard and came up the 3 deck steps on her own. She will come to an outstretched hand and gently take a treat. She needs a groom and bath desperately, but that will have to wait a few days as she was spayed less than a week ago. She is good with our Zoey and wants to be with us humans, so should be an easy mill dog to get ready for adoption.
