Meet Candy Cane 3660

Candy Cane has been here for 3 weeks now and is doing very well. She came from a mass breeding facility  in Ohio and made the long journey to freedom mid December. Candy is a 7 year old Biewer (Yorkie) and weighs 9 pounds. She was very shut down and nervous when she first came. She spent all of her time in a large dog bed and only left it when we took her outside or for snuggle time watching TV. She did not participate in the snuggles, but tolerated being with us.
After about a week and a half she started coming out of the dog bed when we were out of the room and we even started to hear her try to play. If she heard us coming she would dart back to her safe spot.
Now she is starting to play with toys on occasion and has even tried to "share" a toy with our dog. Candy Cane learned to go up and down our 3 deck steps within 3 days and will follow me back inside after potty breaks. However she will not voluntarily go outside on her own yet. I caught her jumping on the couch this week, and she often jumps off when we are on it together.
Candy has a curious streak and does like to check things out. She also has marked a few times- only where another dog has peed first. She does most of her business outside and will use a pee pad if needed inside.
She and Zoey our small yorkie co exist well, but are not snuggle buddies yet.
