On Sunday two sweet mill dogs arrived, just before Mara was adopted.

Sunday was a busy day! We met the transport at 9:30 to pick up two mill dogs who have been fortunate enough to find their way into foster care while waiting for their forever home. Many of these poor dogs are euthanized when their breeding days are over, but these were two of the lucky ones who found their way into rescue.
Elora, who we are calling Ellie and Tatum traveled from Ohio being transferred from car to car every hour or so all day Saturday. They stopped in Oshawa where a volunteer took them in overnight before they continue their journey Sunday morning.

Mara's new family arrived about noon to complete her adoption and take her home. She is now called Lola and is settling into her new home well. Lola is a lucky girl and we wish her and her new family all the best.

Elora is a 7 year old yorkie who lost an eye sometime prior to leaving the mill and Tatum is a 5 year old maltese with hair loss and some skin issues. They were fully vetted by Loyal Rescue- spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested and dewormed as well as having dentals done.
When first arrived
These pups preferred to lay on the floor instead of the dog beds, have no conception of the great outdoors, are not house trained and are timid. They have so much to learn, but are already beginning to trust, come looking for pets and attention and are beginning to go out to potty. Tatum has learned to go up our 3 deck stairs on her own and is the calmer of the two. Ellie runs in circles when she feels stressed, but is coming along. They seek each other out and sleep side by side, so we are crating them together overnight for now, until they are more reliable with house training.
It is such a joy to see these girls learn each new thing. They love to be cuddled already and are allowing us to pick them up easily now.

Up graded to a blanket the next day.

Graduated to a dog bed
